7.2.2 ROTATE ENTITY
The ROTATE ENTITY command is used to rotate or rotate and copy a group of
entities.
COMMAND FORMAT
#ROTATE ENTITY [modifiers] :Ent ... :Loc x1 :Ent ...
or
#ROTATE ENTITY ANGLE value [modifiers] :Ent ... :Loc x1 x2 x3 xn :Ent
The entities to be rotated or rotated and copied or identified at the Ent
prompt. The angle through which the entities are rotated can either be
defined explicitly by entering the ANGLE modifier, or defined implicitly
using a set of locations on the drawing.
If the ANGLE modifier is used, location 'x1' defines the centre of rotation.
( See fig. 7.16 ).
If the ANGLE modifier is omitted, a minimum of 3 locations must be entered
to define the centre of rotation and the rotation angle. Location 'x1' is
used as the centre of rotation. The angle defined by the imaginary line
drawn from location 'x1' to 'x2' forms the base angle from which the
rotation angle is derived. The actual angle of rotation is defined as the
difference between the angle of the imaginary line drawn between 'x1' and
'x3' and the base angle. If the COPY modifier is used, further locations
may be entered each of which define an angle of rotation relative to the
base angle in the same way. ( See fig. 7.17 and 7.18 ).
MODIFIERS
COPY The COPY modifier is used to create new copies of the entities
that were identified. The original entities are left intact
while new entities are created at the specified locations.
Without the COPY modifier, the original entities are rotated
through the specified angle about the centre of rotation.
.ACTIVELAYER When entities are copied using the ROTATE ENTITY command, the
new entities will be created on the same layer as the original
entities. If the ACTIVELAYER modifier is used, the new
entities will be created on the current active layer.
.ACTIVEDEPTH When entities are copied using the ROTATE ENTITY command, the
new entities will be created on the same depth as the
original entities. If the ACTIVEDEPTH modifier is used, the
new entities will be created on the current active depth.
ANGLE The ANGLE modifier can be used to define explicitly the
rotation angle. The modifier should be followed by the
rotation angle in degrees.
.NTIMES If the COPY modifier is used and the angle of rotation is
given with the ANGLE modifier, NTIMES can be used to specify
the number of copies of the identified entities to create.
The entities are copied incrementally at the specified angle
about the centre of rotation.
NOTEXTROT This modifier is used to inhibit the rotation of text. The
location of any text entity is affected by the rotation, but
the angle of the text remains unchanged.
